School Nurse Support Groups

What are DYS School Nurse Support Groups?

Diabetes Youth Services (DYS) knows diabetes is a community disease, meaning not just primary caretakers are impacted when a child is diagnosed. DYS is excited to announce a new program for school nurses meant to provide a place to relax and discuss tips and tricks when working with a child with diabetes. Participants will also hear from experts on things like:

  • Diabetes Technology
  • 504 Plans and Individualized Education Plans
  • Liability of staff relating to diabetes management
  • Communication with parents
  • So much more!

How often will these meetings take place?

DYS plans to hold support meetings on a quarterly basis. Meetings are supplemented with the School Nurse Conference each August where nurses can earn CE Credits and learn more about diabetes in the classroom in a more formal atmosphere.

Note: Because we have several people talking in the same room at once, we only offer this group in person.

Our next meeting is scheduled for:

Thursday, April 20th from 4:30-5:30pm at the ProMedica Diabetes Center in Toledo, OH

We will provide snacks, drinks, and educational materials to take home.
