Diabetes Youth Services (DYS) is an independent non-profit organization that provides educational and supportive services for young people living with type 1 diabetes, their families, schools and communities throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
Helping local children with Type 1 diabetes manage their disease every day. Supporting familes, educating communities, and encouraging independence.
Since 1984, Hot Shots Camp has been our signature program. Designed with the T1D camper in mind, Hot Shots Camp is one of the only places where nearly everyone else around them is living with Type 1. We have 4 camp sessions available for campers ranging from 5-17 years old, with activities like swimming, archery, crafts, sports, and hands on diabetes education campers will use the rest of their life.
Diabetes Youth Services (DYS) collaborates with the community to provide a variety of programs for the whole family! Meet other families living with T1D at Kalahari Waterpark, Mudhens Baseball games, ice skating, you name it!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Spirit Day Fundraiser at Urban Air Adventure Park!
Thank you to the Grand Council Benevolent Fund for their generous donation to DYS to support Hot Shots Camp!
Family Connect is a program intended to provide newly diagnosed families living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) support from a seasoned DYS family who lives in their Zip code/neighborhood.
Even after camp, the fun doesn’t stop! We offer programs specifically for high school and college age students throughout the year to offer support when they need it the most.
In order to better serve our families in and surrounding counties, we have started a small chapter in Findlay, Ohio. Stay tuned for event updates below.
