Welcome, Morgan!

DYS is excited to welcome Morgan McCullough to our staff! Morgan will be joining us as the new Program Director. As Program Director she will be responsible for planning and executing all of the family events, education programs, and helping Brandon with the Leadership group. Morgan will also serve as Camp Director! Morgan is no stranger to DYS. She has been a fixture at camp for most of her life. She is not a type 1, but has participated in camp because her mom, Patty, brought her every her when she volunteered as a nurse. Morgan then became a beloved counselor. Here is a little bit about Morgan, in her own words.

Morgan (R) at Big Shots 2015

“I was born and raised in Tontogany Ohio. In high school I was very involved in sports especially basketball. I am a huge Ohio State fan and, of course, a huge Cleveland Cavs fan. After high school I attended the University of Toledo and graduated in 2016 with a bachelors in Communication. I will be pursuing my Masters degree at the University of Toledo in the Public Health Program with the major of Health Promotion and Education. DYS has always been a huge part of my mom’s and my life. Mom along with Robin Cutcher started the overnight “Big Shots” camp about 25 years ago. I started attending camp with my mom at the age of 7 and went till I was 15. I then became a counselor for 3 years and a leadership mentor for 1 year. I also attended the leadership retreat for 2 years and was a guest speaker one of the years where I got to teach the kids about proper social media usage and what it is like to be a good leader. I am very excited to be a part of something so special that my mom helped create so many years ago. It is such a surreal feeling to be apart of such a life changing program that has always meant so much to her and I. I am excited to get even more involved with these amazing kids and young leaders who have really inspired me in every possible way over the years. Everyday those kids are teaching me something new and I want nothing more than to put my heart into a program that will help these kids thrive and be proud of their Diabetes. We now live in Perrysburg Ohio where we have a 13 year old Lab Sophie who we feed way too many treats to and love to take on walks everyday! I couldn’t be anymore excited and honored to start my position as Program Director starting in October and I can’t wait to see where this next journey will take me. I just would love to thank all the people in DYS who believed in me over the years and allowed me to stay so involved in this program.”

Well said, Morgan. We are honored to have you.  Make sure to come by, say hello, and welcome her to our family.
